One thing leads to another

At some point I think I was going to post pictures of all eight kitchen chairs recovered in the new brown print. But I took a few, and it was kind of boring.

I mean, it's eight chairs that look exactly like this:

So instead, I decided to show you what I did with some of my leftover fabric. Because I'm so terrible at estimating how much I need for any given project that I overshot it by about five yards this time.

I've had a fabric-covered bulletin board covering up an old-school phone jack in our kitchen since we moved into our house in 2000.

Since photos covered most of it, it was never a priority to recover it, even though I quit loving the print around, oh, 2002.

My staple gun was still out, so I just took some of the fabric and stapled it right over the old board. How lazy am I? I didn't even remove the ribbons or buttons from the surface of the bulletin board first.

I stapled the fabric right around the edges of the back, being careful to leave enough of a gap around the hangers so that it could still grab onto the wall correctly. (The hangers are under the fabric, but I didn't even have to score or cut the fabric to allow it to hang back on the wall. It was fine.)

I used some brown ribbon to wrap around it at regular intervals ... I didn't measure it, but I used certain repeats in my pattern to guide me, which made it easy to eyeball.

And then I added some "nailhead trim," which you know I love. (My nailhead trim is thumbtacks from the office supply section at Hobb Lobb.)

I think it added a nice touch, though. I like the bling.

Plus, I think it will help hold the pictures in place better than just the ribbons themselves.

And that was it! It was maybe a 30-minute project, and I love the results.

I put some of the pictures back on it, but not all of them. I think I may turn it into more of a Current Events board for our family ... like this week is Red Ribbon Week at the elementary school, and the kids are supposed to do something every day for that.

Tomorrow is Wear a Red Shirt Day, for example, and it would be nice to post the flyer up there to help us remember what the theme for each day is. Birthday party invitations, etc., could go there, and I wouldn't need to pull my planner out to look up that information when we needed to reference it. I know a lot of people use their fridges for those types of things, but I can't stand a cluttered refrigerator door.

Regardless, I'm loving my new, more contemporary bulletin board!

It's pretty worth enough for me. In my view, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the net will be a lot more useful than ever before.
