24x24: July 14, 2012

24 hours in Chattanooga on the lake

There's a lot to be said

for going out there and hitting it hard,

 giving the lake your all.

 A lot to be said

for being pulled back to the boat with a proud grin on your face.

There's a lot to be said

for taking a flying leap into the lake

without knowing what waits for you beneath.

There's a lot to be said for friends who've known you since you were born,

for babies whose perfect little heads cause people to swoon,

for thrilling rides on Jet-Skis,

and for friends' dads who are happy to let you take the wheel.

There's a lot to be said for quiet moments on the porch,

and the beaming faces of children who caught a fish right off the dock.

There's a lot to be said for the love a friend can have for another friend's child,

a child who can hardly take a bad picture,

who melts hearts with her smile,

whose hair is apparently going to fight humidity

 with wispy curls,

 just like her mama's.

There's a lot to be said about 24 hours on the lake.

How much fun was had,

 how many memories were made.

How blessed we are.

McWane Science Center, Birmingham, Ala. -- We spent the day doing science experiments, playing and interacting with the animals in the aquarium. I'm only going to interrupt one time for commentary on one photo.

Here is where I would like to point out that this wall of pins or whatever they are showed Nathaniel's dimple in clear relief when he poked his face through. That totally cracked me up.
