Only one more month of this

School starts in less than a week, so we've been squeezing as much time in at the pool as possible.

And the pool's only open until Labor Day -- and we can only go on the weekends -- so every hour counts!

GOOD THING I HAVE SOME BOYS WHO LOOK BEYOND ADORABLE IN GOGGLES, THEN.

But when we arrived at the pool last Saturday, we saw this:

All together now: DUH-DUH-DUUUUN. It's one of the boys' very favorite things at the pool.

They were disturbed, but they recovered quickly. Relatively quickly. Luckily one of their other favorite things to do is to stand on Grayson's back while he's underwater ... and fortunately Grayson was willing to play.

They also love to hang onto him while he swims, sort of like when you swim with the dolphins.

Everyone had to take their turn. Actually, MANY turns.

The diving board was but a distant memory.

Grayson was a great sport, hanging in there for a long time to make sure everyone had enough fun.

Of course, can anyone REALLY have "enough fun"?

The answer to that, of course, is a resounding "NO!"

No matter how long Grayson let them play, they always wanted more. (That kid in the background you keep not recognizing is Nathaniel's friend, Hunter.)

I remember those days so well ... I remember how sad I was the Summer that my dad told me I'd gotten too big to throw through the air at the pool. You never want that kind of fun to end!

The one good thing about the board being broken is that it means that "the well," as they call the deep end, is open all the time. We tried to teach Jake how to dive in the well.

He was totally game to try! I couldn't believe how willing he was to go in face-first.

What a great sport he was ... and he did it over and over again.

Oh, and we finally found out what happened to the board ... it broke while Hank, one of the lifeguards, was diving off of it.

No shame in that, Hank. Although clearly the other guards will have you believe there is.

I can't believe we only have a few weeks left of THIS MUCH FUN. I want to soak up every moment, because next Summer will be a COMPLETELY different pool experience, with Unnamed Baby Girl in tow. For now, I'll enjoy these little goggled faces until I can't take any more.

I'm feeling very nostalgic about summer ending. It's silly because we live in Florida and have a pool... meaning we swim year round. But it's not the same when school is in session. And with my daughter starting K this year everything just feels different. I'm enjoying these last few days a lot.
