Valentine's Day is just around the corner

My friend-thanks-to-blogging April at Funky Vintage Kitchen just introduced something really exciting to her shop, and I wanted to share it with you guys.

Remember those sticker clubs we always wanted to join when we were little, the ones where you'd sign up for $20 a year or whatever, and each month a new set of stickers would be sent straight to your door? Well, I was all about sticker collecting back in the day, and I always wanted to be in one of those clubs.

So I am happy to introduce you to the adult version of that dream: April's Pretty Little Lovelies Club! A summary (interspersed with pictures of some of April's designs):

You pay $65. Around the 15th of each month (for six months), a pretty little lovely from Funky Vintage Kitchen will be packaged and sent to you. It will be something different each month. A surprise!

Some of the little lovelies planned are a vintage button/flower ring, a blooming bobbie set, a pretty travel tissue cover, a pretty set of two blossom earrings, a flower pin, a sweet + simple blossom necklace. Every item is handcrafted or sewn by April.

A one time shipping fee of $15 will be charged with your subscription for U.S. orders.

Once you place your order, April will contact you and ask about any color preferences that you absolutely love or don't love.

I wanted to share this with you because 1) I don't wear jewelry and therefore don't support April's shop as much as I'd like to; 2) April donated one of her Keep Calm and Carry On necklaces to Jonah's upcoming EB Auction and I want to repay her in some small way; and 3) it sounds like so much fun!

I shared this through Facebook earlier this week, and my friend Monica has already placed an order for her stepmother's birthday! So it's good for Valentine's Day, birthdays, Mother's Day or any number of other things. I think six items this cute for $65 (or even for $80 when you include shipping) is quite a deal.

Enjoy! And visit April's blog if you don't already know her.

Oh Katherine. Thank you so much. Such a beautiful post that has me blushing!

And P.S. I didn't wear a lot of jewelry either (actually only wedding ring) before I started making these items. Now I wear at least one item everyday and it surprises me how much I love to put on a ring or necklace!! It makes me feel like it just might be a special day.

Until I became part of the handmade community I never wore jewelry. Now I own several pieces and wear them a lot! I own a necklace and a set of earrings from FVK and love them! In fact, I wear that necklace more than any other.

Way better than the Legacy Drawer I asked for! (http://www.daveramsey.com/article/legacy-drawer-keep-your-family-prepared/lifeandmoney_relationshipsandmoney/)

I'm not much of a jewelry girl, either - mostly because I'm not really into fashion and wouldn't know how to pick it out/pair it with clothes. That's what my friend Meredith is for! She helped me select some new jeans and tops about a month ago - and even a scarf that pairs nicely with most of it. Have to admit that jeans, cute layered tees, and an accessory makes me feel awfully dressed up!

If I ever do start wearing jewelry, it will be a mix of April's and Lisa Leonard's pieces!
