This week I've been desperate for laughs

This week several things have happened that have settled me into different levels of sadness. ... My friend Heather's two Golden Retrievers have been missing for three days. I read The Time Traveler's Wife, which isn't what I would call "light reading" and put me into a funk. Marie Osmond's grief-laden interview on Oprah yesterday tore me apart. My brother-in-law Bill fell down the stairs at home, had to have surgery on his broken ankle and is facing a tough 12-week recovery. And as I mentioned yesterday, my dear friend C was diagnosed with breast cancer and is now planning a double mastectomy and chemo.

It's times like these that send me eagerly to lunch with funny friends and to the Internet for some comic relief. Because laughter really IS the best medicine for me. And coincidentally, reader Megan said recently in a Comment, "I think you should blog more about things that make you laugh. You always seem to find some crazy website that cracks me up."

This seems like a good day for me to oblige. So these are my regular Go-Tos ... and I must issue a Language Advisory on all of them, FYI.

Wow! I was mentioned twice in one week!! Thanks for the laughs, and hopefully you ordered some prehistoric animal shampoo. It will change your life. Sort of. On a more serious note, your friend will be in my thoughts and prayers. My mom was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer three months after a clean mammogram. She was in her 40's. She had a double mastectomy and chemo, and four years later is still cancer free. :) Have a great weekend!
