This, for example, would be too many words for a text

The same teenager has been cutting our grass for several Summers now. I used to call him on his cell phone at the beginning of the season and see if he planned to cut lawns again, and then call him each time we needed a trim.

Last Summer he responded to one of my voicemails with a text, so I texted him back. From then on, we just texted our conversations. AM I HIP OR WHAT? (And of course ALL the kids are tossing the word "hip" around these days.)

So I haven't talked to him since the last time he cut our grass, which must have been in October or so, but our grass is already cuh-razy tall and we're having Jake's birthday party here on Sunday afternoon. So I decided to text him about the grass. I hoped he had me stored in his phone so he'd know who the heck was texting him about grass:

Me: "Hey! Our grass is really long already. Party Sunday. Can you cut it this week? KH."

William: "Sure! I can probably do it Thursday."

Me: "Sounds great. Thanks so much."

William: "No problem."

I think in the world of texting, that was ridiculously long, like Young People would practically consider that an entire blog post's worth of words. (Am I right or am I right, Walt?) So next time I think I'm just going to text William, "Grass. Thanx." and see what kind of response I get. If he responds with a place to meet me for the buy, I'll know he misunderstood.

SO FUNNY. I can so see that happening to you - arranging a "deal" by miscommunication.

Came across your blog today - have no idea how... but I spent like hours stalking you. Love your writing style but REALLY loved the Disney re-caps. We are going in 16 days for my daughter's 4th birthday... we are also taking our 4 month old. I'm beyond excited and loved your overviews!!! I'm also a Project Manager - so that made me love you even more :-)
