A comprehensive look at the new house

I've been hesitant to do this, but you guys seem SUPER interested in the new-to-us house.

And I really appreciate that! And as a long-time reader of several personal blogs, I get it. Like, REALLY get it.

The only reason I haven't wanted to share all the "Before" pictures is that (and I'm admittedly projecting, here) I feel like the majority of you will think, "Heck! It's in move-in condition! She's totally been exaggerating for weeks ... all they need to do is put new carpet down and MOVE IN ALREADY."

I won't go into all the reasons that that isn't possible, but please just understand that they exist.

(And I'm not going to pretend that one of those reasons isn't that I just plain old want to make the house "ours" before we move in. Because that's very much one of the reasons.)

At any rate, before I asterisk myself into a thousand-word post before I even get to the first picture, let's begin.

Foyer

Plan: Paint, light fixture, remove marble, add hardwood to match dining room

Dining Room

Plan: Paint, board-and-batten wainscoting, light fixture, refinish hardwoods

Den

Plan: Paint, light fixture, remove carpet, add hardwoods to match dining room and foyer, demo and replace fireplace/mantel

 Master Bedroom

Plan: Paint, light fixture, remove carpet, add hardwoods to match rest of main floor, demo and replace fireplace/mantel

 Master Bathroom

Plan: We're keeping the footprint and layout the same, but we're taking it down to the sheetrock and starting over in here.

Guest Bedroom

Plan: Paint, light fixture, remove carpet, add hardwoods to match rest of main floor

Guest Bathroom

Plan: Paint, light fixtures, remove shower doors, replace vanity, replace toilet

 Laundry Room

Plan: Paint (I hope to come back and do more later!)

 Kitchen

Plan: Similar to the master bathroom, we're keeping the footprint the same, but we're taking it down to the sheetrock and starting over in here. (I know. You're appalled. But we have lots of reasons for doing it. Promise.)

Kids' Loft

Plan: Paint, light fixture, replace carpet, accent wall of tongue-and-groove 1x6 stained wood

Amelia's Bedroom

Plan: Paint, light fixture, replace carpet, board-and-batten wainscoting

Nick and Jake's Bedroom

Plan: Paint, light fixture, replace carpet (also have to get rid of this huge bed that belonged to the previous owners)

(I'm planning to sand and paint the dresser [not the hutch] and use it in the dining room as a storage piece. Also plan to change out the hardware.)

 Nick and Jake's Bathroom

Plan: Paint, light fixtures, replace toilet

Nathaniel's Bedroom

Plan: Paint, light fixture, replace carpet

Basement

Plan: Paint, light fixtures, demo Mexican tile, replace with carpet, remove wood-burning stove, wall off far end of room for Grayson to have a library (relocate pool table to near side)

Basement Bathroom

Plan: Paint, light fixture, replace toilet
