Fire in Jackson

Some of you may remember that my sister lives in Jackson, Wyo. Needless to say, it's a stunningly beautiful place to live.

Although I haven't seen it covered in national news, a wildfire (the "Horsethief Forest Fire") was sparked last Saturday about five miles south of town, and it's spread quickly.

Sarah Ellen took this picture of the approaching fire from her house on Sunday.

And she took this one from her house later on Sunday night.

You can imagine how terrifying it is to see those flames coming toward your town, your home, your office ...

Fire officials are doing everything they can to control the blaze ... Sarah Ellen took a picture of a huge helicopter preparing to go fight the fire on her way home from work yesterday.

This was on the Elk Refuge in town, which is being used as a staging area.

If you've ever been to Jackson, some of the areas that are threatened by the fire would be familiar to you ... here's a short video that explains where it started and where it's spread.

My sister's home and office are in the evacuation advisory area; if you're inclined, please pray that the fire gets under control and that lives and property are spared.

Oh no! Praying for rain. And maybe a reason for a visit from Aunt Sarah. :)

Terribly sad! Praying they can get it out of control. It does look like a beautiful post. On another note, can aunt Sarah do another guest post if she pays a visit?
