Uncomfortable truths, vol. 23

1. Every time I drive under a bridge, I can't believe it didn't just fall on me.

2. The tsunami in Phuket left an indelible mark on my psyche. At least once a month -- sometimes more often -- I have a nightmare that we were there when it happened, and we have to choose which kids to help and which to let swim on their own. It's devastating EVERY SINGLE TIME I have it. And recently, with that cruise ship disaster that happened in Italy, I've already had a nightmare about being on that ship and having to get all the kids off the ship -- and not all of us made it. GAH.

3. I'd rather buy a new clock than replace the battery in one I already have.

4. I still wear scrunchies from the '90s in my hair around the house. And sometimes when I run. And sometimes to the grocery store.

5. I'm much more of a melody and harmony person than I am a lyrics person. I can identify a song by just the first note or chord on the radio about 95 percent of the time. But you can repeat three lines of lyrics to me from the same song and I might not even recognize it. Which is why at this very moment, the boys have two songs on their iPods that have the word "shit" in them. And I just found out yesterday.

I love you. The small print in Number Four, especially.
