This is my life

The other day we were walking up to my friend Lisa's front door to spend the day at her house.

I'd given Nathaniel a bag of Amelia's bottles to carry. I'd given Nick the diaper bag to carry. I was carrying Amelia in her car seat, my camera, turkey and carrot souffle in a 9x13 dish.

When we got to the front door, I said, "Someone please open the door."

Nathaniel: "Somebody else do it. I carried this bag up here."

Nick: "Well I'M not doing it. I carried the diaper bag."

Jake: "I don't wanna do it."

Me: "Someone open the door. Now."

Nathaniel: "NICK, YOU DO IT."

Nicholas: "JAKE, YOU DO IT."

Jake: "I'm not doin' it."

Nathaniel: "JAKE! NICK!"

Jake and Nick, in unison: "NATHANIEL!"

Me: "SOMEBODY OPEN THE FREAKING DOOR RIGHT NOW."

And then Lisa opened the door from the inside.

I swear, Internet. This kind of thing happens 11 times a day. I go back to work tomorrow, and I guess I'll miss it.

OR NOT.

Oh you are singing my song. Just know you are not alone. I've learned that you have to appoint someone specific. Just like if you have to do CPR on someone and need somebody else to call 911. You are supposed to say, for example, "You in the GREEN SHIRT, call 911" or nobody will. But let's hope that particular scenario isn't one we'll ever have to experience firsthand.
