Was it foreshadowing?

You guys might have ESP.

I went back to a post last year where I invited you to ask me questions. (I never answered all of them, so I wanted to revisit it.)

Here are some of the questions you asked:

I love your thoughts and have always wondered if you wished you had a daughter. As a mother of two girls, I have no idea what life with a boy would be like. How does it feel to be outnumbered?

Since you have three boys, have you missed having a girl especially in some situations? ... I have two girls (I wished for two girls even before they were born), but sometimes when I see some cute boys in the soccer field, I wonder what it would have been like if I had a boy... have you thought like that?

You make an awesome boy mama, but have you ever hoped for or plan to try again for a girl?

What's your favorite thing about being a mommy to three boys? What do you think you would enjoy about having a girl in the mix?

Any plans to add to the crowd anytime soon?

How about a post on boy/girl names if you had more kids?

HA! I thought it was so funny when I went back and looked ... it's as if you guys knew some really motivated sperm was gonna do its thing this year.

So, here are some answers for you.

I love your thoughts and have always wondered if you wished you had a daughter. As a mother of two girls, I have no idea what life with a boy would be like. How does it feel to be outnumbered? I never wished to have a daughter ... I only wished to have healthy, typical babies. Once I had one boy, though, I really hoped that any future children would be boys, too. I think you just sometimes want to "go with what you know." However, having a girl is wonderful. Granted, we're not to the really tough stuff yet (I worry terribly about the tween and teen years with all of our kids), but I'm really enjoying my sweet girl.

As for feeling "outnumbered," I never really feel that way. I was always sort of a tomboy, myself, so I really enjoy most "boy stuff." The only thing I can think of that I REALLY hate about being a mom of boys is the CONSTANT yellow ring on the floor around every toilet in our house. Try as they might, they seem to "miss" a lot. It's beyond disgusting.

Since you have three boys, have you missed having a girl especially in some situations? ... I have two girls (I wished for two girls even before they were born), but sometimes when I see some cute boys in the soccer field, I wonder what it would have been like if I had a boy... have you thought like that? Honestly, until we found out we were expecting a girl, I never, ever wondered what it would be like to have one. I was so content with our boys, it just didn't occur to me. I WILL say that I didn't envy my girlfriends who have girls very often, because girls can apparently be divas some of the time. But now that I have a girl, I'm glad. She's the perfect final addition to our family, and I'm completely smitten with her.

You make an awesome boy mama, but have you ever hoped for or plan to try again for a girl? We never "tried" for a girl. Honestly, we weren't even "trying" at all when we found out we were expecting Amelia, but God's timing is obviously perfect. From where I sit today, I can't imagine her not being in our lives.

What's your favorite thing about being a mommy to three boys? What do you think you would enjoy about having a girl in the mix? My favorite thing about being a mom to three boys is probably the affection that they have for me. Right now, they love to hug me and they enjoy snuggling up with me on the couch. They can be so full of sweetness sometimes! As far as having a girl in the mix, it's so affirming to see the love the boys have for her. Poor girl will probably never be able to get a date because these boys are already SO protective of her. I hope she'll grow up to be nurturing and compassionate, and I hope she'll want to take care of us in our old age. Ha!

Any plans to add to the crowd anytime soon? This one cracked me up because no, we didn't have plans to add to the family soon ... but we all know how THAT turned out! Again, I'm thrilled with the size of our family, but we're definitively done this time. I made sure of it on Sept. 26th.

How about a post on boy/girl names if you had more kids? Great question! I'm always curious about names people choose for their children. If Amelia had been a boy, I would like to have gone with David Kyser. I would love to have honored my cousin Kyser by using his name, and although David is always popular, it's traditional and would have mixed well with the other boys' names. If we hadn't gone with Amelia Gray for Amelia, my second choice would have been Avery Gray. I think Avery goes well with both Gray and our last name, and Grayson's side of the family really wanted us to go with a name that started with an A, since all of the little girls have names that start with A (Abby, Anna Kate and Ali).

So there you have it! Any new questions for me, kid-related or not?

What are your plans for once you go back to work? And when do you go back? ;)

I didn't know you were considering Avery--that's a gorgeous name, but it was ruined for me by that bitch on "Felicity" who tried to steal Ben for a whole season. I'm glad you went with Amelia!

I have a thing for A names, too. We have Andrea and Ashley. Actually, Ashley was to be Heidi, but on the way to the hospital, we decided to use Ashley instead. My girls even have the same initials because I thought I was being smart. Not. On the calendar for appts, etc., I used A1 and A2. (good thing Andrea doesn't mind having the notation of a steak sauce.
Beckie & Bob have Andrea & Ashley!
