All the cool kids are doing it

Every night Nathaniel has some amount of homework. At first we were overwhelmed by the amount of time it was taking, but now that he reads really well and soccer season is over, it all seems much more manageable.

Nick has been sort of jealous the entire year that HE doesn't have his own homework to do, so many nights we've set him up at the kitchen table alongside Nathaniel to do a reading lesson or just do some coloring.

He's really enjoyed getting in on the homework action over the past several months. I HOPE THAT HOLDS UNTIL NEXT FALL, WHEN HE HAS ACTUAL HOMEWORK.

But guess who felt left out. Guess who decided that HE needs to do homework, too. That's right. JAKEY.

So now every evening after supper, Nathaniel sits down to do Real Homework, Nick sits beside him to do some sort of activity, and Jake climbs up in his booster seat with crayons and printer paper to do his best homework, too. Why I bother with the paper, I don't know, because he seems to like drawing directly on the table just as well!

When I see them sitting like this, I think about when they're in 5th grade, 3rd grade and Kindergarten, all having Real Homework to do. I wonder if by that time they'll WANT to sit together and do it, or if they'll be tired of each other and want to be alone. I hope it's always like this. So sweet.

Sigh.

It's been the same way here! My daughter has decided that her homework should be using scissors to make a new, multicolored batch of confetti each night out of the paper in the art bins. Messy, yes, but it also keeps her occupied!

It's possible. My 15 yo (10th grader) and 10 yo (5th grader) sit at the table every afternoon and do their homework. The 10 yo, on occassion even gets some help from the 15 yo. That my friend will melt your heart even more. They do still like each other but of course also still like to have their little fights and wrestling matches. Your little guys are super-cute.

My dad makes fun of me because in most of my pictures, the kids don't have shirts on. Glad to see I am not the only one!

I am so glad to see that someone else's little boys like to run around barely clothed as well!

My friends all make fun of me, too, because my boys would rather be naked than wear clothes. Even the night I took these pictures, when it was 40 degrees outside, they were happiest in just their underwear!

And I bet Jakey doesn't have any pants on.
