Minus 15.4

I only lost four ounces lost this week. And that's after losing only six ounces LAST week.

So remember how last week I was all, "Six ounces. Meh. I was hoping for more. Now I'm going to quit writing this post because I'm depressed"? WELL, I went to the doctor last week for a physical, my second physical of the year. I'd gone in June, just before I started This God-forsaken Diet, to have baseline labs done -- in particular, my cholesterol, which has always been very high. And when I say very high, I mean Very High.

High as in, the kind of high that you have only read about in books. I can almost certainly guarantee that you don't KNOW anyone with cholesterol as high as mine: 302.

No one has ever wanted to medicate me to lower my cholesterol until we know for sure that we're done having kids, so until we've made that decision, we're holding off. But all of my doctors feel that it's a foregone conclusion that I will have to go on a statin to help lower it.

WHATEVER. The Important News is the phone call I received last Thursday giving me the lab results from my most recent physical. Get ready.

My cholesterol is down to 251. Two fifty-one. That's 51 points! (Right? I am SO bad at math.) I was probably in elementary school the last time my cholesterol was that low. SO, the weight loss is good, but THIS is arguably better. I don't think the weight loss caused it; I think it's the type and combination of foods that I'm eating that did it. All that Stuff that Tastes Like Crap actually has a side benefit.

So THIS week I'm not going to complain about "just" four ounces. I'm going to be OK with it. I'm going to tell myself that those four ounces might translate into four more points off of my cholesterol. And I'm going to be HAPPY about it.

Now, let's delve a little deeper into my triglycerides before moving on to my thyroid and white blood count ... OH WAIT. Sorry. I completely forgot that THIS ISN'T INTERESTING. I will stop now.

That's awesome! Positive results are still great, even if it's not a big number on the scale!

I about just typed: "Six ounces plus four ounces equals a pound," but then realized I'm an idiot, so instead of just navigating away from this page, typed what I was about to type, thus proving to you that I am, in fact, an idiot. And I thought I would share that with the world... or at least with your 40+ followers. Anyway, I'm proud of you irregardless... just kidding. I know irregardless is not a word... just wanted to get your panties in a wad. :) Love you.
