Keeping cool

You should never, ever underestimate the value of a cheaply made piece of blue and orange rubber, punctured with a hundred holes, not intended for use by people with a BMI of over 18. IT RULES THE SUMMER.

Our boys enjoyed a fabulous sunny afternoon with cousins George Emory and Branum, everyone intent on "killing it" on the Slip 'n' Slide.

Nathaniel had a very nice showing ...

And Branum was in fine form:

Everyone kept running back around to take another turn. Nathaniel started out strongly again ...

... but lost a little bit of his form halfway down ...

... regaining his composure before the end.

Did I mention that the slide is a little on the short side, really meant more for kids with the energy of commuter turboprops, not 747s? They overshot the runway more than a few times.

Once they got going, they really built up quite a pool of water at the end of the slide.

MORE FUN FOR EVERYONE!

And the afternoon wouldn't be complete without disconnecting the hose and totally drenching every square inch of our yard. I'm quite sure our neighbors on the downhill side appreciated the extra mud running their way all afternoon.

OH, SUMMER. We have so many plans for you.
