I don't bake, but I like looking at baked stuff

Earlier this week my friend Vanessa and I went to lunch at the museum. GREAT CAFE. Yum.

We noticed as we entered that there was a cake-decorating demonstration going on in the lobby in honor of their Wedgwood exhibit. I'm a BIG Ace of Cakes and Food Network Challenge fan, so of course I wanted to pop over and see the cake.

When we got there, it turns out there were two cakes, a blue one and a pink one.

She was decorating them to mimic the look of the widely recognized Wedgwood china, and it was pretty neat. She did the blue-and-white one while the audience was sitting there, so while it wasn't perfect, it was still impressive.

The pink one, she'd apparently brought with her, and it was extremely detailed. Everything that you see below is edible.

Here's a close-up of one of the high-heeled shoes:

And a close-up of the pearls spilling out of a little box:

This, I think, is a garter. This might have been a wedding cake or at least a model of one.

These are two miniature bottles, I guess perfume bottles or something, with a ring in the foreground.

It was really fun to see her decorating in person ... she owns a local bakery, and I'll let you know if I try it sometime!
