Poppin' tops

A while back I wrote about the time I discovered that Grayson eats his cheeseburgers the wrong way. And SOME PEOPLE were surprised to learn how long it took me to realize it, given the length of time we'd been together. SOME PEOPLE questioned my integrity in relating the story.

Well, I experienced a strikingly similar moment last weekend. As we sat down for supper, I happened to notice Grayson pop the top on his Cherry Coke Zero WITH HIS LEFT INDEX FINGER. This is the right-handed man to whom I've been married for more than 13 years, whom I dated for almost three years prior to that.

I said, dumbfounded, "You just opened that can with your left hand." He looked at me funny and then re-enacted the crime so he could test me. "Huh. You're right."

I said, "I don't think I have enough strength in my left index finger to pop a top." I couldn't test it because I'd already poured my drink into a glass, but at some point in the next month I hope to remember to test it BEFORE my drink is already open. It's been a few days already, and so far reflexes have just taken over and thwarted me.

Any other right-handers out there who do this left-handed? (Grayson also shoots pool left-handed, but that's the only other thing I can think of.)

I'm left-eyed and left-eared. For example, if I look through a peephole, I instinctively use my left eye (even though my uncorrected eyesight in my left eye's a little worse). Or, if I was trying to listen to a conversation through a wall, I'd use my left ear. I don't know if that's common for a person who's otherwise right-sided or not, but I just figured that out last week at work. (I think about nonworky things at work sometimes.)

So ... you're saying you were eavesdropping at work last week. Nicely done.

On the rare occasion that I actually look through a peephole (once a decade?), I do it with my left eye because I can't close my left eye on its own. (I can only wink my right eye.)
